Our Team

Caring Hearts staff strive to provide the highest quality care for your pets in every aspect of our services.

Dr. Connie Brunkow graduated from the University of Illinois in 1989. She has practiced in the East Central Illinois area for over 23 years. For the year prior to opening Caring Hearts Animal Hospital she was the Director of the Veterinary Technology Program at Parkland College in Champaign. Dr. Brunkow was also an instructor at DACC in Medical Terminology for 14 years.
She was on staff at local veterinary hospitals for over 17 years. She currently serves as the veterinarian for the Vermilion County Dept. of Animal Regulation and the shelter on Catlin/Tilton Road. Dr. Connie has bred and shown dogs for almost 40 years. In April 2012, she was honored to be the conformation judge for the  American Whippet Club National Specialty show.

Sandra Stundahl was one of Dr. Connie's students. She graduated from Parkland College in Champaign with an AAS and became a Certified Veterinary Technician in Spring 2011. She interned at Banfield Pet Hospital in Champaign. Sandy has a gentle soothing way with animals, this gift makes your pet very comfortable in her care.
 
Judi Fuentes is a Danville native, a DHS graduate and attended DACC. She worked as a veterinary technician with another Danville veterinary hospital for 15 years. She shares her vast knowledge and exceptional skills with our patients on weekends. Her surgical and training experience is priceless. Judi is bilingual (fluent in Spanish.)

Sabrina Stone has a BS in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently pursuing her doctorate as a third year student in the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She works as an ER Technician in the U of I Veterinary Clinical Pathology Lab. We are very proud to have her working with us on weekends and in surgeries whenever possible.

Connie Hanson joined us in November 2012 as a receptionist. Connie has an AAS from DACC. Connie retired in 2011 after 21 years as a Computer Operator and Systems Analyst with Vermilion County Court House. She served as interim director at Vermilion County Animal Shelter.  She brings her operational expertise and love for animals to our team. Connie was a member of the board for Vermilion County Shelter Foundation.

Patrice Legg moved to Danville in 2008 after 20 years in California. She spent 28 years as a Budget Director, Finance Manager and Controller for school districts, municipalities and manufacturing companies. She has a AAS in Accounting, Computer Programming from DACC, a BS in Accounting, minor in Theology from St. Mary of the Woods College, IN, and a BA in Business/ERP from California Baptist University in California. Upon return to Danville she was the Interim Office Manager at DACC Foundation and Payroll Administrator at the City of Danville before helping open Caring Hearts Animal Hospital in October 2011.
